The first question most people ask when they hear "prediction game" is whether real money is involved. It isn't, and we want to be completely upfront about exactly what that means rather than leaving it vague.
What Prediction Points actually are
When you make a prediction on a soccer, NFL, NBA, or MLB match, you stake free Prediction Points on the outcome — not cash. Prediction Points have no monetary value. They can't be purchased with real money, can't be sold, and can't be redeemed for cash or anything else of monetary value. They exist purely to track how good your predictions actually are over time.
Then why show odds at all?
We display real sportsbook odds alongside matches purely as informational context — they give you a sense of how heavily favored a team is expected to be, the same way odds are reported in sports journalism. They're not something you're betting against, and they don't affect anything you can win or redeem.
So what's the actual point?
Bragging rights, mostly — in the best sense. S2S Predictor ranks players on a public leaderboard by prediction accuracy, so the entire game is built around the satisfaction of being right, not around risking or winning money. S2S Predictor is free to play. An optional $3.99/month Plus subscription exists for an ad-free experience and premium analytics — it doesn't change how predictions work or unlock any way to win real money. The core game, including the leaderboard and Groups & Challenges, is free for everyone.

You'll notice real sportsbook odds displayed next to matches on S2S Predictor, which sometimes raises a fair question: if there's no real money involved, why show odds at all?
Context, not a wager
Odds are one of the clearest, most widely understood ways to communicate how heavily a team or outcome is favored. Sports media outlets report odds constantly for exactly this reason — they're informational shorthand, not an invitation to bet. We display them the same way: as context to help you think through a prediction, not as something you're staking money against.
What actually happens when you predict
When you make a pick, you're staking free Prediction Points — not money — on an outcome. The displayed odds don't change what you can win or lose, because there's nothing of monetary value on the table in the first place. They're simply there so you can see, at a glance, whether your pick lines up with or goes against the wider expectation.
Why this distinction matters to us
S2S Predictor's entire design is built around skill, fun, and social prediction — not gambling. Showing real odds is genuinely useful for that goal (it makes predicting more interesting and informed), but we're careful to keep it exactly what it is: information, not a market you're wagering into. There's no way to purchase Prediction Points with real money, and no way to redeem them for anything of monetary value.
Groups & Challenges: Predicting With Friends, Not Against the House

What it actually is
Groups & Challenges lets you compete with friends specifically, on top of the wider public leaderboard. Instead of just seeing where you rank against everyone using the app, you can create or join a smaller group and see how your prediction accuracy stacks up against the people you actually watch games with.
Friends, not the house
There's an important structural difference between this and a sportsbook: you're not competing against an operator taking the other side of your pick. Everyone in a group is predicting the same real match outcomes across soccer, NFL, NBA, and MLB, using the same free Prediction Points, and the leaderboard simply tracks who calls it best. Nobody is "the house," and nothing you stake has monetary value.
Why we built it this way
The most common way people actually talk about sports — arguing about who's going to win, texting a friend "called it" after a game — is inherently social.
